About us

About Repair Café Meerhoven

We are Repair Café Meerhoven: a young and diverse team of 22 volunteers, aged between 25 and 75. Our roots are spread across the globe – from Turkey to India, from Moldova to Cuba, and many more – but here in Meerhoven, we are one team. What unites us? The desire to do something good together: repair things, share knowledge, and bring neighbors closer together.

More than a hundred nationalities live in our neighborhood, and that’s reflected in our Repair Café. Here, you’ll find the handy electronics technician next to the creative seamstress, the DIY enthusiast next to the neighbor pouring coffee and chatting. Everyone contributes in their own way – because every talent counts.

The initiative began with Jacco, who, after years in the hotel industry, applied his passion for connecting to the neighborhood. He brought us together, driven by his belief that together we achieve more. We’ve grown into a close-knit group where young and old support each other and happily pick up a screwdriver, needle, or glue gun.

But let’s be honest: for us, it’s about more than just repairs. Of course, it’s great when a bike rides again or a toaster works, but the real benefit lies in the interactions. It’s the conversations, the smiles, and the new connections that make every Repair Café special.

We’re proud to have created a place in our neighborhood where things and people get a second chance. Feel free to stop by – you’re welcome at Repair Café Meerhoven!
